Continuing Education

The Centre for Open Learning and Educational Support offers a wide range of non-degree learning opportunities -- everything from one-, two-, three-day short courses to ten-week certificate courses to special conferences. These offerings are designed to meet the specific learning and professional development needs of specialized audiences.

Many continuing education offerings reflect the unique teaching expertise and research strengths of the University of Guelph. This is reflected in the many offerings we have in fields such as food science, agriculture and agribusiness, environment, and human sexuality.

These offerings are typically sponsored by a particular College or Academic Department at the University of Guelph. It is the academic sponsor who is primarily responsible for overseeing and endorsing the academic content and design of the offering and the selection of teaching personnel.

Our continuing education certificate and diploma programs (in Human Resources Management, Turf Management, Couple and Family Therapy Studies, Communication) are designed for individuals wishing to enter these various fields, or those already in these fields wishing to sharpen their knowledge and skills for advancement. See the Program and Course Offerings section of this website for further details.

We have a wide array of external partners in industry, government, and other educational institutions with whom we work to ensure that our continuing education programming meets the needs of our learners.

As well, many of our continuing education certificate courses are approved or accredited by various professional associations.

The Office of Open Learning also participates in customized contract education and training initiatives at home and abroad.
